The Pinnacles
« on: November 20, 2012, 08:31:36 PM »

Sunday was a gorgeous hiking day.  We did The Pinnacles, a seven mile hike combining the West Pinnacle, Hawks' Nest and the East Pinnacle.  This is probably the most strenuous day hike in Central Kentucky.  Two segments of it, the climb to West Pinnacle and the Main Dome segment heading eastward are more of a scramble than a hike, but they don't require ropes, just some dexterity.  The photo shows Dave pulling himself up to the top of West Pinnacle.

That's a nice rock climb/scramble up to the top of the West Pinnacle.  The view loooking north out onto the bluegrass is one of the best in central KY, similar to the view from Pilot's Knob.
