Campout
« on: February 27, 2003, 02:09:11 AM »

Im planning on doin a two night campout at the gorge in late march.  I'd be getting there fri night and maybe doin an hour or hour and a half hike to a site, then hiking a good majority of the day Sat, then headin back Sun.  Can anyone recommend some hikes??  I kinda wanna see Cloud Splitter, but any interesting ideas will be readily accepted.  Thanks for being the men with the plan.

How many miles, and how many cars?

A good 2 car trip would be hike down the STT on corner ridge to Gladie Creek Friday.  Then take the STT over by indian arch.  Side trip over to the staircase, then continue on to cloud splitter.  End up at the suspen.  bridge.  Get the second car and drive back to corner ridge.

O.A.R do you have a map?  I would suggest looking closely at a topo and making sure you have a solid place to park.  Then pick an area that looks intesting to you & head out Splorin.  A guaranteed blast and hopefully you'll teach us all something and bring back some great pix.  The only way I would vote against this is if there are fresh hikers in your group.  They normally don't like bushwhaking and would prefer to get right to the campsite.

Peace :)

I'm thinking you were at the "window" that separates the sheltowee trace trail from the wolfpen drainage... up the hill from the suspension bridge.

just my first guess.
