Camping, cave trips, boat trips, geocaching, group activities, reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones - Speleofest 2010 offers it all!  Located at the heart of cave country, the 39th Annual Speleofest will be held at the Lone Star Preserve just south of Elizabethtown Ky.

People new to caving should come prepared if you plan to go underground.  There are seven caves located within walking distance of the preserve and there will be many other trips offered daily to local caves, ranging in difficulty from novice to expert level.  Some of the caves offered this year have not been featured at Speleofest before.   Required caving gear includes helmet, headlamp, backup lights, and sturdy hiking boots.

With three nights available to camp, be sure to pack your camping gear.  On the preserve there are primitive showers with hot water, a food vendor, cave gear vendors, and a shelter with picnic tables.  There’s plenty of room for groups to have their own campsites in the coolness of green trees.  Roads and other access make it possible to park at or near your camp.  All of this takes place during the Memorial Day Holiday weekend,  May 28th - 31st, 2010.  For more information check out our website at  louisville.caves.org/welcome.html, or just do a web search for  “speleofest”.  Check frequently for updates and be sure to read all of the available information.

Were already planning for next year.  Do you know of any other good places to advertise for something like this?  Were well set on advertising within the caving community but were looking to reach out to others also, mainly other outdoorsy folks.

You might try letting the outdoor recreation clubs at UK, U of L, EKU, WKU, etc. know.
