Title: Red Byrd Arch
Post by: oneeyejack on October 28, 2017, 03:10:54 PM
I found Red Byrd Arch last weekend via the Douglas trail and crossing the Red at the "confluence".   Once I crossed the Red, I couldn't find any trail and I just made my way following animal trails close to the Red, and bushwhacking thru Rhodos following GPS coordinates to Red Byrd Arch.

It's was a beautiful day hike and well worth it.

My questions:  Did I miss a more traveled trail once I crossed the Red, maybe higher up?  Is the alternate route from the top any easier?

Thanks!

The trail off the old road bed is easy to miss (dead fall by the road bed).  Kind of rhodo-ey on the way down (this turn is also easy pass by cuz of the braiding through the rhodo).  Don't know if it's easier but I believe it's shorter.
