Cave Run Lake
« on: May 17, 2019, 06:57:10 AM »

Saturday we planned a day of exploring in the gorge, but when we arrived there was a steady rain falling.
So we took a nice drive up to Cave run.   ;)

Love photographing all the beautiful wild flowers.

I'm usually like that in the summer, but not this past weekend, sneezing, runny nose & coughing (both of us)!  :'(
Oh yeah can't forget the ticks...found dozens of ticks. >:(

Best way I can think of to spend an anniversary...
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

I came upon a whole group of those tiger swallowtails in a tiny bit of mud one day, like 20 or so. By the time I got my camera up to look through the viewfinder, they took off. I got a picture of one brave soul that held his ground.

Our 43rd anniversary is coming up in July. Yep, we are older than you! Lol!

Wanted to visit Zilpo Arch but had it plotted in the wrong place (I not always right LOL!!). Oh well I know the correct location, so we'll save that trip for another day. After all a bad day in the woods is always better than a good day at work  ;) plus we always find something interesting.

A nice pillarette

Once flickr's camera roll finishes updating, I think I'll repost all the tiny photo.   ???

First time through a kudzu forest (should have taken pics). Vines climbing/hanging everywhere, pulling down everything in it's path...even climbing up the cliffs. What a mess!! >:(  And the ticks, Jeez, they're bad!!!  On our way out at the end of the day we stopped for a breather and a drink.  I noticed dozens of period-sized ticks crawling on the bottom of our pants. We grabbed our lighters and brushed the fire across our pants (all the while thinking, How about some fire little tickies LOL).

Oh well, a bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.  Even though it was a hot, it was still a great day for bushwhacking.  :)
