Went on a site survey; got destroyed by chiggers n ticks more than I ever have on any single hike. Land owners were clear cutters. Awful.

The red was looking great yesterday. Wish I had time to go to Muir today.

Some Pictures
« on: April 04, 2019, 07:54:36 PM »

I was fortunate enough to get out twice this week and thought I'd share a few pics of the beautiful early Spring appearance of the Gorge. Pretty much my favorite time of year. Although, seriously, any time of the year in the Gorge is my favorite...

Star Gap

Pine Cones

Vortex

A View From TRR

Reindeer Moss

EMF Radiation

Sky View

Sasquatch Sighting

PEACE,

Thank you, Gene.
It's good to hear from you and I hope you are doing well. My posts have been quite sporadic over the years... so many changes, responsibilities, priorities. You know, LIFE.
But every once in a while I'll get some free time after one of my hikes and gather a few shots that seem to describe the hike, and I'll share them. Hopefully they will encourage someone to say: "I'm gonna put off this day to day tedium and get out and hike!"

I like the pine cones. Where is that chimney? Clifty Wilderness sort of near Castle Arch? Or somewhere else?

My 2018 New Year resolution was to go hiking at least once a week (with a very open definition of hiking). I only missed 3 or 4 weeks in 2018 where life got in the way. So far at least once a week this year. This is easily the best resolution I have ever made :)

Good job, keeping up with the resolution!! I work outside on my wildlife habitat/rehab-small farm, and for 4 years now I've been building trails and eradicating invasive species of plants on 8 acres. That job in itself entails walking at least 5 miles a day (according to my phone app) along with pulling vines, chainsawing diseased trees and logs. Stacking, dragging, etc. And I wonder why my joints ache!
Keep that resolution going, renew it every year & NEVER STOP MOVING.  :)

I always love the arches....and waterfalls and overlooks and shelters!!! ;D   I'm so happy to be exploring clifflines again.

The cliff lines whisper "I have secrets to share".  But sometimes they lie!! :D

Thank you, ShifuCareaga,
The Gorge has been a big part of my life for 44 years and on every hike I try my best to not only absorb the delicate beauty of my surroundings, lock them into memories, but also take back some images that I can share with friends and family and anyone else who may not have the time or means to get out and see it for themselves. I hope I can raise some awareness to the risks we are taking if we ignore politics and greed... I have a great granddaughter for whom I wish to share my interests and concerns. Hopefully she can help her generation and future generations open their eyes to the pervasive destructiveness that, for some odd reason, infects many fellow humans. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...
Sorry for the long-winded rant. The words just started to flow.  ;D
