Lock 5 Green River Death
« on: August 06, 2018, 05:03:34 PM »

(WBKO) -- The Warren County Coroner's office releases the name of the man who apparently drown in the Green River near the Butler/Warren County line over the weekend.

They say the man is 49 year-old Leoncia Anastacio Santillan.

Officials say they responded to a report of a "witnessed" drowning on Sunday near the dam of Lock 5 on the Green River.

For any of you who aren't aware there are numerous Locks and Dams from the steamboat era on Green river.  A couple years ago a father of several children took a canoe over Lock and Dam no. 5 and didn't come back.  It seems these things continue to happen.  Lock and Dam no. 4 in Brownsville, KY was removed in Oct 2017.  LD5 is slated for removely soon....  sadly not soon enough.
