Hang Em High Horse Camp, or White Oak Boat in; north a bit from there near Horse Lick Creek is the S-tree primitive camps, it's actually quite nice.
If you want large, then of course you're back to state park and lake campgrounds.

I'm looking for info regarding backcountry camping in the DBNF London District, preferably near Buck Creek.  Bee Rock and Rockcastle Campgrounds are both closed and we'd prefer to camp more primitively. Little Lick is small and best suited for horses.
Suggestions?

  • Rock Lick Creek Gorge (in DBNF)
  • Cedar Point ridge near it
  • Benson Creek Falls
  • Jeffrey Cliff (western ky)
  • Sinking Creek Gorge near it
  • Fromon Hollow in Otter Creek (are there falls in there)
  • Bee Knob (mid-western KY)
  • Buzzard Ridge south of Bee Knob towards the parkway
  • Signal Knob Lookout (eastern KY)
  • Ryan's Creek Mtn
  • Bear Mtn

If anyone has any info about interesting features or hiking info... or some pics or stories to share on any of these features, please do. It helps me to formulate my trips for the year for research and cataloguing.

thanks in advance!!

Benson Creek Falls is in Frankfort.  You can see it from the bridge that goes over the creek and is visible from Google Street View as well.
