Hang Em High Horse Camp, or White Oak Boat in; north a bit from there near Horse Lick Creek is the S-tree primitive camps, it's actually quite nice.
If you want large, then of course you're back to state park and lake campgrounds.

I'm looking for info regarding backcountry camping in the DBNF London District, preferably near Buck Creek.  Bee Rock and Rockcastle Campgrounds are both closed and we'd prefer to camp more primitively. Little Lick is small and best suited for horses.
Suggestions?

Dreaming of spring
« on: January 31, 2018, 08:05:15 PM »

Hey, I'm new around here! I've been dreaming of spring wildflowers and I was wondering: what are some on y'all's favorite flowers to see in the gorge?

I haven't been around here long but here are some of my favorites that I've seen so far!!

This one is so intricate and striking!! The purple is almost fluorescent, and it has little white whiskers? Amazing.

Perfect and amazing trillium hahaha

Eyelashes!!

I haven't caught one of these yellow violets blooming yet, but hopefully this year I will! Honestly though, I think I like their leaves more than their flowers.

wow, such beautiful pictures!! I can't wait to see the laurel in bloom. Thanks everybody for showing me all these! I also really enjoy the simple dogwood flowers; sometimes it looks like they're glowing in the light.

Here's a pretty iris I saw last year. Love the yellow and purple together
