That's my surmise as well. I've seen also, about 4 or 5 all black wooly worms. That... is weird.

Frozen waterfalls
« on: January 05, 2018, 07:16:29 PM »

I made it out to the gorge on Jan 3. It was sunny and the high ended up around 25, just a beautiful day for hiking.

I visited a very popular waterfall, but was surprised to run into some other people on a Wed with the morning temperature around 15 degrees. I guess everyone wants to see frozen waterfalls  :)

I had time to check out Creation Falls and wanted to check out Pooch Falls, but ran out of time.

I was also able to visit Raven Run in Lexington on the afternoon of Jan 2

If you want to see more, there is a huge number of photos from these two day here http://backpackandbeer.blogspot.com/2018/01/frozen.html

I googled and the only Clifty Falls I found is in southern Indiana. Is that where you are going? Post some pics please.

I was at Clifty Falls on Dec 30. I'm sure the ice is bigger now.

Beautiful frozen falls, wsp_scott and Bazinga. I'm from and live in Indiana, so appreciate Clifty Falls. Also, McCormicks Creek IN SP has a great waterfall, but haven't made it there yet.

I follow several RRG locals and climbers on Instagram, happy to report that Copperas is now a complete column. Turtleback Falls is also looking really nice. Sharing their photos below. Looks like a lot of people were ice climbing in the Red this past weekend.

I was there on Saturday, and I do intend to post some pics when I get them uploaded. Copperas was incredible, and I thoroughly enjoyed it with about 50 of my closest friends.  :( No kidding, the parking lot when I got back to my car was overflowing with folks parked way down the road on both sides.

For example...
