Went on a site survey; got destroyed by chiggers n ticks more than I ever have on any single hike. Land owners were clear cutters. Awful.

The red was looking great yesterday. Wish I had time to go to Muir today.

Hang Em High Horse Camp, or White Oak Boat in; north a bit from there near Horse Lick Creek is the S-tree primitive camps, it's actually quite nice.
If you want large, then of course you're back to state park and lake campgrounds.

Autumn
« on: October 12, 2017, 08:06:45 PM »

Haven't been able to make it down much this year, but I don't want to miss the foliage this year like I did last year. I've tried to get a grasp of how things look down there via social media, but it's tough to tell. So I shall leave it to the resident experts....

How's it looking? I'm hoping for next weekend. Mbe Halloween weekend if i can swing it.

Thanks all.

Spent last week down at BSF, starting to get some good color, but peak is probably still a week or two away.

Was at RRG this weekend and it could definitely use a couple more weeks before it gets anywhere near "peak."  A lot of green dotted with trees that had completely turned so it still was nice to look at.

I was just down there Oct 20th and 21 and leaves were just starting to change.  Doesn't look like the colors are going to be very vibrant.

Since the weather was cold and damp with tiny snow balls falling, we decided bushwhacking was not an option, so we hiked out Auxlier Ridge Sunday (along with the 20-30 other people).

Lots of color

Colors are looking good! Beautiful photos, and I bet the dog had a fun time with the flurries falling. Thanks for the color update.
