That's my surmise as well. I've seen also, about 4 or 5 all black wooly worms. That... is weird.

Article: Fire ban in Daniel Boone lifted, gorge area reopened
« on: December 06, 2016, 10:17:42 AM »

On Monday, fire management officials with the Daniel Boone National Forest rescinded an order that prohibited any fire outside of designated recreation areas. The order was issued in early November due to drought conditions and an increasing number of wildfires across the forest.

In addition, Tunnel Ridge Road in the Red River Gorge is now open to public travel. The road and surrounding area were closed for nearly a month after an illegal campfire, set after the fire ban, was abandoned and allowed to escape.

While the recent rains were beneficial, forest visitors are encouraged to continue using caution with fire. According to the National Weather Service, the average rainfall level for southern and eastern Kentucky remains below normal for this time of year.

The fall season for wildfire hazard runs through Dec. 15. During this time, it is illegal to burn brush or debris within 150 feet of woodland or brushland from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
