The picture that I posted on the 14th is the exact spot where the hiker was injured this week.  He fell and got impaled on something.   The initial report was Buck Creek but it turned out to be this water crossing on Buck Trail.

Not a good place for cell coverage. Glad they got him out OK.

And I'm going to avoid hiking in areas you post pictures of, at least for a while...

I'll give this a bump.  What is the vantage point of this photo.

Is that the view from Nowhere?

You know, I'm not completely sure of the name given to the unofficial trail that leads off of the Sheltowee and up to the ridge top where you can lookout over to Cloudsplitter.  I don't have my Hinterland book with me.  He may refer to it as the "Nowhere" trail or something like the "Cloudsplitter lookout or overlook trail".  You are correct as to the vantage point.  Cloudsplitter is definitely one of the highlights of the RRG.  You can see the arch from that overlook.  Post a photo sweeper.

I've never seen Cloudsplitter backlit with the morning light before, but it still looked familiar. I was up the Nowhere trail (as Hinterlands calls it) a couple of years back.

I want to head back and maybe follow the ridgeline along. I've heard it can be done and I've heard it's not worth it. Why let that stop me?

Here's the next one:

If you look close, there's a guy lying on the rock in the center of the picture, which is a known and named feature. This is off the beaten path, and off the unofficial paths.

Surprisingly enough, I have a nearly identical picture (but no one was on the arch).  That is Timmon's Arch viewed from above.

Well that didn't take long. A top view of Timmons Arch it is. Good job refmo.

Got a pic of someplace a bit more obscure to up the challenge level?

I've been on the ridge top trail from Cloud Splitter to the overlook.  Nice hike with good views, but (like so many others) alot of deadfall.

I was really surprised to see someone else had been up above Timmon's Arch.  The first time I tried finding Timmon's Arch, I decided to approach from the ridgetop.  It looked doable from the topo maps, but that 25 foot drop off didn't look that big on the map.  So all I got from that trip was a pic from above.

There are lots of obscure places I could post pics of, but decided its more fun to have an unusual view of a fairly well known area.  Maybe next time I'll go more obscure...

We approached it from the creek but found a way to the top of the ridge after crossing over the arch. Neat place.

ETA: the guy on the arch, btw, has the trailname of SweeperG. While I just walked behind the crew, he's actually a chimney sweep.

I took the creek route to Timmons also and was able to scramble up to the ridge above it. It was pretty tricky and was probably not worth the risk in hindsight.

Refmo, I think I know what I am looking at in the picture but I can't figure out where it was taken.

It is Hanson's from Revenour's Rock?

I don't think it's from RR, but from the other side of the Gap. I've looked at getting down there. But yeah, that's Hanson's Point.

It is Hanson's Point.  Taken from what Hinterlands calls the Veranda Trail.  Your turn HungryBear!
