The red was looking great yesterday. Wish I had time to go to Muir today.

Hang Em High Horse Camp, or White Oak Boat in; north a bit from there near Horse Lick Creek is the S-tree primitive camps, it's actually quite nice.
If you want large, then of course you're back to state park and lake campgrounds.

I'm looking for info regarding backcountry camping in the DBNF London District, preferably near Buck Creek.  Bee Rock and Rockcastle Campgrounds are both closed and we'd prefer to camp more primitively. Little Lick is small and best suited for horses.
Suggestions?

No one's admitting that they have climbed up there???   :D  I went up to the ladder and scoped it out and decided I could easily bypass the security door that is supposed to make it not climbable however it was the sign that violators caught would be prosecuted with criminal trespassing that made me decide it wasn't worth it.  I could just see the park ranger having a field day with spotting and catching someone up there.  ::)

Haha! Yes, threat of prosecution is usually my limit as well.  ;)

Let's try this one:

Reminds me of the overlook at Eagle Point Buttress.

Good guess, but a different stellar overlook.

Not that one. Here’s a hint, maybe: pay attention to the colors of the rock and the moss/lichen growing on it. It’s very vivid in this locale.

Not Wildcat Ridge. But getting much warmer. In the right area. The main attraction is just outside the frame. In fact, some of you have undoubtedly stood on the very top left corner and marveled at the view. It's that good.

Ok. We found this on top of an arch. What I want is a story of this. I'll pass this thread on to the poster with the best story, or the true story. If you want me to believe it's the true story, pm me the name of the arch.

Believe it or not, almost 30 years ago Iron Maiden did a concert in Cincinnati and their plane had mechanical issues near Slade.  They literally made an emergency landing on a corn field.  Just so happens that their base player, Steve Harris, grew up on the outskirts of London near Waltham Forest. Somehow this came up on TV during the 2012 London Olympics, as apparently Steve Harris was a well know outdoormans and deer hunter and had a reputation with his bow.  Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, upon landing in the corn field and getting everything sorted out, Steve convinced one of the local farmhands to take him and a couple members of the band on some exploring of the local land and Steve left this hiking stick atop that arch.
