Jefferson county had a real nice noisy line of thunder boomers roll
thru this morning.

I had just stepped out my back door.
My car was parked 20 feet away.
Just as the door clicked shut behind me the lightning hit nearby.
Flash/boom no gap in-between.
I made it to my car in 3 steps!

Wife says we got 1 1/2 inches of rain.

I'll run over to Fairmont Falls this afternoon and check it out.
Should be running nicely.

If it's anything spectacular I'll post a picture.
Stay tuned.....

(Why is this thread in the "surrounding areas" anyway  :-?)

ya know up to now i never really thought about the fact we dont have a around ky section... we just have the red river gorge....  I probably should do something about that.   Either change this to include all surrounding things...  or create a all-things-ky section.

thought?

???  I thought surrounding areas meant outside Kentucky!

I've posted stuff from other hikes in KY in the hiking forum.
My mistake...

no no your right dan... that wasnt what i meant.. this forumn is for things outside of KY, but theres not really a section for things in ky.

Theres the hiking section, but thats kinda open to any kinda hiking....

Im thinking maybe there does need to be a "things in Ky" section added.

Arthur, you run da place!

If you wanna make a new forum I bet we can populate it for you  ;)

AND if you wanna move this thread to something IN KY that
would be good too.

Fairmont falls park is a 1 mile hiking trail in Jefferson county.
And it has a neat little water fall to boot!

This taken about 9 hours after a 1 1/2 inch thunder storm
today-  April 19, 2006

If you walk down the road and enjoy the shaded mini gorge created
by this falls you can enjoy tall trees, shade and this noisy stream
for about 1/2 mile.
