Title: Pickett State Park questions
Post by: wsp_scott on April 26, 2012, 10:31:03 PM
This Thanksgiving the family is going to get a cabin in Pickett State Park and I am making a list of must see places. My kids are 5, 7, and 9, so long hikes are out. We are going to have Wed afternoon and all of Thur and Fri to explore and possibly a little Sat morning.

Are there any obvious dayhikes in the 2-4 mile range with a good payoff (waterfall or overlook or arch) in the area? I've never been on that side of BSF, so anything there would be good as well.

I'll probably get a couple hours by myself and I am thinking about the Hidden Passage Trail. Is there something else I should check out instead?

thanks for any insights or advice

Twin Arches is close by.  There is a short trail to the arches or you can do a 4-5 mile loop

Twin arches are awesome!!  And there is an overlook on top.

Both Needle Arch & Pickett Natural Bridge have trail heads in the park.  Parker Mountain road is a scenic drive with several overlooks.

Buffalo arch is just across the KY border.  It's a relatively shot, flat trail.

Never heard of Buffalo Arch, but it looks like a good short hike.

Thanks for those suggestions. Feel free to add more :)
